Mountain Experience at Kazbegi Mountain

Day 1: Shared twin/double rooms in a guesthouse in Stepantsminda.

Day 2 onwards: Dormitory rooms at Meteo Station shelter (3600m). please note shelter has extremely basic situation.

Option to stay outside the Meteo shelter if preferred (in case of poor conditions).

Itinerary:
Day 1 |

Destination: Tbilisi – Stepantsminda (1800 m.a.s.l.)

Details:

Depart Tbilisi and head to Stepantsminda.

Collect food supplies and recheck equipment.

Overnight in a guesthouse with dinner and breakfast.

Day 2 |

Destination: Stepantsminda – Meteo Station Base Camp (2200 m.a.s.l. to 3600 m.a.s.l.)

Details:

Early breakfast in Stepantsminda.

Drive to Gergeti Holy Trinity Church.
-
Meet pack horses, load luggage, and start hiking toward Meteo Station.

Arrival at Meteo Shelter at Kazbegi Mountain around 15:00.

Day 3 |

Destination: Meteo Station (3600 m.a.s.l. to 4000 m.a.s.l. and back)

Details:

Spend the day getting ready for the summit ascent.

Trek to 4000 m for acclimatization.

Equipment check and training end at 15:00.

Rest and relax for the day.

Day 4 |

Summit day (from 3600 m.a.s.l. to 5054 m.a.s.l. and back)

Details:

Get up at 02:00 am and prepare for the final climb.

Reach the peak of Kazbegi Mountain, the most challenging part of the expedition.

Experience the most rewarding view as you stand on top of the world!

After conquering the peak, head back to Meteo shelter.

Expected arrival back at Meteo Shelter around 18:00.

Day 5 |

Meteo Station – Stepantsminda – Tbilisi (from 3600 m.a.s.l. to 2200 m.a.s.l.)

Details:

In the morning, trek back to Stepantsminda.

Return to Tbilisi, marking the end of the expedition.

An extra day in case of difficult weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

Professional Services: Services of professional mountaineering instructors and guides (Every 3 participants have 1 mountain guide).

Accommodation: Overnight in shared twin/double rooms in a guesthouse on Day 1.

Equipment You Need to HAVE:
- Mountaineering boots (not trekking boots, we wear trekking boots only until Meteo shelter. You can rent mountaineering boots at M Plus shop in Tbilisi)
- Two pairs of gloves (one light and one warm – winter ski gloves)
- Ski goggles or good sunglasses
- Headlamp – make sure it will last 5-6 hrs or have extra batteries
- Trekking poles (we use trekking poles until the last uphill where we switch them with an ice axe)
- Mountaineering jackets / Ski jacket
- Waterproof trousers / Ski trousers + leggings
- Thermal clothes
- Thermal socks
- Balaclava mask or something to fully cover your face
- Gaiters are very important to keep your feet dry
- Water bottle – 1.5 liter recommended
- Cooking pots and gas
- Two backpacks (one 50-liter or more for horses and make sure it’s fully covered to be safe on horse, they dont wrap it you have to prepare yourself. and one day pack for yourself)
- Personal first aid + Sunscreen
- Climbing or skiing helmet
