The route follows village roads and walking paths. Most of the walk is relatively flat, with a few uphill sections leading to viewpoints over the valley. The hike is suitable for anyone with a basic level of fitness.

 

Itinerary:

After departing from Tbilisi, we will drive to Gudamakari Gorge, a mountain region known for its villages, traditions and sacred stories of local shrines, preserved through generations of oral traditions. Our local guide will take us through the villages of Chokhi, Dumatskho, and Gamsi, following village roads and paths while learning about the history, customs, and everyday life of the valley. Along the way, there will be opportunities to enjoy views of the surrounding mountains, alpine meadows, and the Black Aragvi River. After the walk, we will visit a local guesthouse where we will enjoy a traditional lunch, taste regional dishes, and take part in a khinkali-making masterclass with our hosts before returning to Tbilisi in the evening.

As we will be visiting chapels and religious sites during the tour, we kindly ask participants to dress respectfully. Please avoid very short shorts, crop tops, sleeveless tops with large openings, or other overly revealing clothing. Comfortable outdoor clothing that covers the shoulders and reaches at least to the knees is recommended.

Tbilisi bunkers create an underground city beneath the capital’s streets. During the Cold War, the Soviet Union allocated a large budget to prepare for nuclear and other attacks. Under Tbilisi alone, there are about 450 bunkers, one of which includes a large control panel to provide communication with bunkers below other Georgian cities.
During our tour through the Tbilisi bunker, we will learn how such facilities were heated, where they were getting water from, and how they communicated with each other. We will also have an opportunity to take a closer look at the technology used to measure radiation and protect it from its impact.

Day 1

After leaving Tbilisi, we will reach Dedoplistskaro and Vashlovani national park administration where we register with our PASSPORTS and we will explore Vashlovani hidden gems – Datviskhevi and Pantishara Gorge, and the stunning cliffs of Mijniskure. Here you’ll find narrow canyons and jagged peaks, barren plateaus, forested mountains, and a snaking river forming the border with Azerbaijan.  we will set our tents or overnight in administration owned bungalows which is located in Mijniskure.

Day 3
Elia monastery – Dedoplistkaro – Tbilisi

Today we will prepare for the return journey to Tbilisi. On the way, we will visit Elia Monastery. To reach the monastery, we will walk up a staircase trail, including the final uphill section leading to the monastery area. After the visit, it will already be around lunchtime, and we will stop at a restaurant on the way back to Tbilisi. Return to Tbilisi around 6-7 pm. End of the trip.

Hiking included:
3.2 km total; the hike to Gveleti waterfall is short (1.6 km one way), but uphill (ascent of 328 m). The last part (150 meters) of the hike is steep and includes walking on boulders.

 

Itinerary:
We will leave Tbilisi early in the morning and drive to Kazbegi National Park along the famous Georgian Military Highway. On the way, we will stop to see Gudauri Panorama and admire Zhinvali Reservoir.  The first stop during our Kazbegi (Stepantsminda) Day Tour will be Gveleti village, from where we will hike to the beautiful Gveleti Waterfall. We will also take a short drive to visit Dariali Monastery Complex. If we have time we can order some food in Dariali restaurant.

Hiking included: YES – We will walk a short distance on the “Rainbow” hills. There is no clear walking path, and the terrain consists of sand and gravel. We recommend wearing proper hiking shoes to avoid slipping.

 

Itinerary:

We will leave Tbilisi early in the morning and head to Mravaltskaro Reservoir. Mravaltskaro is famed for the colorful, rainbow-like hills surrounding it. We will also visit Natlismtsemeli Monastery. The complex was originally established at the end of the 7th century. Nowadays, it’s one of the main pilgrimage sites in the region.

Finally, we will reach David Lavra – the main section of David Gareja Monastery Complex, founded in the 6th century (Please be aware that the monastery is partly on the territory of Azerbaijan. Some parts are unavailable for sightseeing). Time and weather permitting, we will also stroll across the “Rainbow Hills” surrounding the shrine.

We will stop at a local guesthouse in Udabno. The meal is NOT included in the price of the tour. You can order it a la carte.
Next stop will Be Sabereebi cave monasteries, where you have to walk uphills to reach and explore from inside.
Tour might switch and align sightseeing stops differently, due to weather and road conditions.

Day 3 – Mestia → Zhabeshi Trek / 27 July

After breakfast at 8:00, meet your trekking guide and prepare for the first day of hiking. The group will collect lunch boxes and begin the trek from Mestia toward the picturesque village of Zhabeshi. 8:30 you will be ready. leave luggage in front of Mestia hotel for luggage transfer car.

The route passes through beautiful mountain scenery, alpine meadows, forests, and traditional Svan villages, offering excellent views of the surrounding Caucasus peaks.

Hiking Distance: 16.1 km
Elevation: 763 m uphill, 523 m downhill
Typical Hiking Time: 4–5 hours including breaks

Upon arrival in Zhabeshi, settle into the guesthouse and enjoy a well-deserved dinner.

Day 4 – Zhabeshi → Adishi / 28 July

breakfast at  8:00.
collect lunch boxes and start the hike toward the remote and historic village of Adishi.

Today’s trail gradually ascends through forests, open pastures, and scenic mountain landscapes. Along the way, hikers will enjoy spectacular views of glaciers, alpine valleys, and traditional Svan settlements.

Distance: 10.6 km
Elevation: 909 m ascent, 527 m descent

Upon reaching Adishi, one of the most isolated villages in the region, check into the guesthouse and enjoy the peaceful mountain atmosphere.

Day 5 – Adishi → Iprali / 29 July

collect lunch boxes and begin one of the most memorable stages of the trek toward Iprali.

Shortly after departure, the group will cross a river on horseback, an exciting experience that is included in the tour. The route continues snow-capped peaks, and alpine landscapes before descending toward the village of Iprali. horses are provided by your guesthouse caucasioni.

After arriving in Iprali, enjoy dinner and relax after a rewarding day on the trail.

Day 6 – Iprali → Ushguli / 30 July

After breakfast, collect lunch boxes and continue trekking toward Ushguli, one of the highest continuously inhabited settlements in Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The trail follows the Enguri River valley and passes through traditional Svan villages surrounded by spectacular mountain scenery. As Ushguli comes into view, hikers will be rewarded with magnificent views of Mount Shkhara, Georgia’s highest peak.

Elevation: 677 m ascent, 436 m descent

Day 7 – Ushguli → Tbilisi Transfer / 31 July

depart Ushguli and begin the return journey to Tbilisi.

The drive passes through the scenic landscapes of western and central Georgia. Several stops will be made along the way for stretching, refreshments, and meals at local restaurants (meals are self-paid).

Arrival in Tbilisi in the evening and check-in at the hotel.

Overnight: Tbilisi.

Day 0 (Aug 15): Arrival in Tbilisi

Day 1 (Aug 16): Juta Valley Trekking & Gergeti Trinity Church

Breakfast at the hotel at. 8:00
Meet your guides 8:30 and depart at 09:00.

Your guide will be Natia and she will take a second guide with her.

Car type: 5 × Mitsubishi Delica 4WD vehicles.
Each vehicle fits 6 passengers + 1 extra foldable seat. and has a roof luggage rack, sufficient for all equipment.

 

Stops and plan:

  • Jinvali Reservoir – stop for photos and short break – 20 Min
  • Ananuri Fortress – 30 min stop to explore fortress. 
  • 12:00 – Trekking in Juta Valley (Tina Lake area) until approx. 17:00
    the road is damaged and we will have extra 3 km one way to hike towards the village juta.

    Distance: approx. 6–7 km (round trip)
    Elevation gain: approx. +350–400 m

    Difficulty: Easy to moderate
    Trail description: well-defined mountain trail with gradual ascent, alpine meadows, river views, and open valley landscapes. Suitable for first-time hikers with normal fitness.

  • Instead of Gergeti church let’s visit winery for wine tasting since tomorrow morning winery will not be open early. Wine tasting per person is 30 GEL.

Day 2 (Aug 17): Truso Valley Trekking & Winery Visit

We switched itinerary and instead of winery we will go to Gergeti fist thing in the morning. after drive to Truso valley for hike.

12:00 – Hike toward Truso Lake and Zakagori Fortress until approx. 15:00
Truso Valley Trek (to Zakagori Fortress / Truso Lake area)
The best route to take is from Turos cafe towards Abano lake and continue further towards Zakagori fortress. our cars will wait for us at the fortress.

Distance: approx. 6-7 km
Elevation gain: approx. +250–300 m
Hiking time: 3 hours including breaks
Difficulty: Easy to moderate
Trail description: mostly flat wide valley trail, passing mineral springs, abandoned villages, travertine formations, and river crossings. No technical sections.

Late lunch at a local restaurant (self-paid). Suggested restaurant – Kavtaradzeebi Khinkali in Pasanauri.

16:00–18:00 – return drive toward Tbilisi.

Day 3 (Aug 18): Transfer to Mestia

Gogia guesthouse is one of the best in Zhabeshi. please note that from today we will be staying in the villages. Gogia guesthouse is fully booked only with our group. bathrooms are shared.

Mountain Village Accommodation

All rooms have private bathrooms in Mestia and Stepantsminda.
In rare cases in Svaneti such as Zhabeshi, Adishi and Iprari, bathrooms may be shared with other rooms.

Important Notes:

    • The itinerary is intensive with a tight schedule and limited rest time. If you prefer more rest, some activities will need to be skipped.

    • Weather conditions in the mountains can change quickly. In case of bad weather, the guide may adjust the hiking route, duration, or timing.

    • If hiking is not possible due to weather or safety reasons, the hike will be skipped and replaced with driving or rest time where possible.

    • Daily schedules may change due to road conditions, traffic, or unforeseen local circumstances.

    • Mountain guesthouses are simple and authentic; comfort standards differ from city hotels. it has electricity, hot water, heaters, towels.

    • Participants should have good physical condition and prior hiking experience is recommended.

    • Proper hiking shoes, rain protection, and warm layers are mandatory.

    • Early departures are required on several days to complete the program safely.

    • Internet local coverage is normal – good mostly everywhere. you will need to purchase e sim of Magti or Silknet (not celfie it is not good for mountains). or please let us know if you need physical sim cards on arrival.
