Trail description: The hike follows a pilgrimage road. The trail’s most challenging aspect is a significant elevation gain. Trail is mostly open under the sun. we use walking poles to help ascending or descending. It’s a great hike for intermediate hikers.
Itinerary:
We will leave Tbilisi in the morning and head north on the Georgian Military Road. Our journey will take us to Aragvi River Valley, where we will stop in the small village called Mleta. From Mleta, we will hike uphill to Lomisa church – a medieval Christian shrine dedicated to Saint George. Lomisa is the principal shrine for the highland province of Mtiuleti and neighboring communities. On our hike, we will follow the pilgrims’ route. Views from the trail are stunning. Time permitting, after the hike, we will visit a local restaurant for early dinner. Return to Tbilisi. The end of the tour.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE TOUR
MEETING TIME AND PLACE
We meet at 9:00 at Samaia Garden. Please be on time. In case of any delays, please inform your guide. Otherwise, the group will depart without you.
WHAT TO WEAR
Please wear clothes appropriate to the weather. In winter, the trail is usually covered with a layer of snow. In such a case, you will need waterproof hiking boots and trousers, gaiters, and walking poles. In summer it’s hot. It will be more comfy if you take extra shoes and change before/after hike.
FOOD & DRINKS
Always make sure you have enough drinking water. 1.5–2 liters should be enough for the day. Please make sure to bring snacks – sandwiches, dried fruit, sweets. They will help you maintain your energy during the hike.
OTHER ESSENTIAL ITEMS
If you are prone to motion sickness, please have medicine with you. Bring a day pack to carry important items with you.
