Join us on a Chiatura & Katskhi Pillar road trip. We will explore a medieval cave monastery, enjoy a cable car ride across Chiatura, take a closer look at the Georgian version of Meteora and so much more.

Itinerary:
We will leave Tbilisi in the morning and head to the Imereti region. will drive to the mining town of Chiatura, where we will stop at the medieval Mghvimevi Monastery and take a cable car ride to the ruins of the former Pioneer Palace. We will also take a look at the old cable car station.
Finally, we will visit the fascinating impressive 40-meter-high Katskhi Pillar, with a tiny hermitage built on top of it. While climbing to the top of the pillar is forbidden for secular people, the view of the church is one of the most iconic in Georgia. Please have your own lunch, we are not going to stop at restaurant. Return to Tbilisi in the evening. The end of the tour.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE TOUR
MEETING TIME AND PLACE
We meet 9:00 at Samaia Garden. Please be on time. In case of any delays, please inform your guide. Otherwise, the group will depart without you.
WEATHER
Georgian weather changes often and fast. For this reason, it’s essential to follow the weather forecast closely. Here is the weather forecast. Please check it the night before the tour to be well prepared.
WHAT TO WEAR
Please wear clothes appropriate to the weather. Since we will be walking a lot, we recommend wearing comfortable sports shoes.
FOOD & DRINKS
Always make sure you have enough drinking water. 1.5–2 liters should be enough for the day. We will stop at the supermarket to buy some snacks. Please have your own lunch, we are not going to stop at restaurant.
OTHER ESSENTIAL ITEMS
If you are prone to motion sickness, please have medicine with you. Bring a day pack to carry important items with you.
