It usually takes place from mid-September to mid-October. Join us on tour to help local winemakers pick up the grapes and to have some fun (with wine, of course)!

Itinerary:

We will leave Tbilisi in the morning and head to a cozy family winery in Kakheti. Upon arrival, we will meet our host. We will then head to the vineyards to start collecting grapes. The work is hard – grapes must be collected, and the juice must be squeezed out. In the past, winemakers and their families used to do that by stomping on the grapes with bare feet. Nowadays, machines are helping with processing the grapes. Once we are done with our work a time will come for the celebration with a a lovely homemade dinner made of traditional local dishes. Trail description: The trail runs in a loop around the massive cliff that houses Samshvilde Fortress. It’s well-marked and clear. The hike starts in Samshvilde village and leads up the cliff. It later descends towards the ruins of Pirgebuli Monastery and further to the bank of the Khrami River. The path continues along the river for several kilometers and climbs up again under the Samshvilde Fortress. This section is steep and tiresome. We recommend bringing hiking poles. They will make your life easier.

 

Itinerary:

In the morning, we will leave Tbilisi and head to the tiny village of Samshvilde, located in the western part of Kvemo Kartli province. Upon arrival, we will start hiking first to the ruins of the 13th-century Pirgebuli Monastery and later descend the banks of the Khrami River.

The scenic path will take us through a thick forest. Sometime during this hike section, we will find a cozy place and sit down to enjoy a picnic. Bring your favorite snacks and lunch with you! we will not have restaurant stop.  Eventually, the trail will turn upwards, making us climb towards the ruins of the ancient Samshvilde Fortress. The climb is quite steep, so walking poles will be helpful. Once we reach the top of the cliff again, we will have time to explore Samshvilde ruins before heading to our vehicle and driving back to Tbilisi. The end of the tour.

Itinerary:

Day 1
Tbilisi – Zugdidi – Enguri Dam – Mestia – Local Movie show

Early in the morning, we will leave Tbilisi and head to Svaneti. We will cross Rikoti Pass and head to Zugdidi, where we will have a lunch break. Next, the group will continue to Mestia, stopping on the way to admire the winter panorama from the magnificent Enguri Dam. Once we reach the town, we will check into our guesthouse and head for an evening stroll and dinner in a cozy restaurant. We also visit Dede Cafe and Cinema for an evening screening of the famous Svaneti-focused “Dede” movie. It’s a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience shows locals life and traditions. Overnight in Mestia.

 

Day 2
Mestia – Tetnuldi ski resort – Sauna and hot tub

After breakfast we will drive to Tetnuldi (1 hr drive) for skiing. we will spend whole day skiing, admiring views of caucasus peaks and in the evening we will come back to mestia. after dinner we will head to Sauna and open air hot tubs which is in the middle of the forest. Overnight in Mestia.

 

Day 3
Mestia – Museums – Cable cars – Skiing – Lamproba festival

After breakfast, you can choose what you prefer to do today. Visiting museums, taking cable car to Zuruldi and sit at highest elevation bar, skiing whole day.
Don’t worry if you don’t have any equipment. We will help you with a rental service and arranging a ski pass.
If you don’t ski, you can still head to Hatsvali to get a cocktail or two in a mountain-peak bar with some of the best views in Svaneti. Or you can stay in Mestia to enjoy the local museums and winter landscapes. we will visit cozy restaurant for dinner and later around 7 pm we will visit cemetery to see traditional festival Lamproba. Overnight in Mestia.

 

Day 4
Mestia – Tbilisi

In the morning we will start driving back to Tbilisi, stopping on the way to streach legs and do a bit more of sightseeing. Return to Tbilisi in the evening.

Tbilisi – Tskhrajvari Mountain – Shaori Reservoir – Nikortsminda Cathedral – Sakinule Cave
Early in the morning, we will leave Tbilisi and head to Racha via Zestafoni. If the weather is good, we will stop at Tskhrajvari Mountain to admire the views. From Tskhrajvari, we will head to Shaori Reservoir, one of the most beautiful lakes in Georgia, located at an altitude of 1100 meters above sea level. Next, we will continue to the 11th-century Nikortsminda Cathedral, famous for its spectacular frescoes. Time permitting, we will visit the Sakinule Cave. Later, we will continue to our guesthouse to relax and enjoy a lovely evening.

Day 2
Oni – Utsera village – Shovi mountain resort – Sachkhere town – Modinakhe fortress – Tbilisi
After breakfast, we will head to Utsera and Shovi – two beautiful mountain resorts surrounded by forests and snowcapped mountains. We will stop to admire the landscape and peek into an abandoned house that, according to urban legends, was once Joseph Stalin’s summer residence. In the afternoon, we will drive back to Tbilisi via the town of Sachkhere, stopping on the way to visit Modinakhe Fortress. Return to Tbilisi. The end of the tour.

Itinerary:

In the morning, we will cross the Georgian-Armenian border and head to the famous, UNESCO-protected Haghpat Monastery. Described as a “masterpiece of religious architecture and a major center of learning in the Middle Ages”, Haghpat monastery, together with Sanahin Monastery, was placed in 1996 on UNESCO’s World Heritage List.

Once we finish sightseeing in Haghpat we will stop for lunch in a local restaurant. Next, we will head to the 10th-century Sanahin Monastery. The name Sanahin translates as ‘this one is older than that one,’ presumably representing a claim to being an older monastery than the nearby Haghpat. The complex is home to numerous khachkars (stones with elaborate engravings representing a cross) and bishop gravesites.

Our last stop for today will be Akhtala – a 10th-century Armenian Apostolic monastery and fortress, which played a major role in protecting the north-western regions of Armenia and is among the most well-preserved in the country. The main church at the compound is famous for its highly artistic frescoes. Return to Tbilisi in the evening. The end of the tour.

If the weather is good, we will also climb to the ruins of a watch tour built once by Chechen warriors.

Itinerary:

Day 1
Tbilisi – Dedoplistskaro – Takhti – Tepa Mud Volcanoes – Dedoplistskaro

We will leave Tbilisi early in the morning and drive to the Vashlovani National Park. Once we reach the park, we will register at the local rangers’ post and head to explore Takhti – Tepa Mud Volcanoes. To add more fun, we will have a picnic lunch in Vashlovani. Bring your favorite snack! In the evening, we will head to Dedoplitskaro to spend the night at a lovely family-owned guesthouse. Time permitting, we will stop to visit St. Elia Mountain offering lovely view of the area. Dinner and an overnight stay in the the guesthouse.

Day 2
Datviskhevi – Pantishara – Mijniskure

After breakfast we will explore Vashlovani hidden gems – Datviskhevi and Pantishara Gorge, and the stunning cliffs of Mijniskure. Here you’ll find narrow canyons and jagged peaks, barren plateaus, forested mountains, and a snaking river forming the border with Azerbaijan. Return to Dedoplistskaro for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3
Dedoplistkaro – Sighnaghi – Tbilisi

After breakfast, we will head to Sighnaghi, a lovely town with a Tuscan-like feeling. Upon arrival, we will visit the charming Bodbe Monastery, stroll the town’s historical ramparts and enjoy a delicious lunch in a local restaurant. Return to Tbilisi. The end of the trip.
