Discover the wild beauty of Georgia’s Kazbegi region on an 8-day guided hiking tour. Explore alpine valleys, waterfalls, and ancient fortresses with expert guides, scenic drives, and authentic local experiences.
Day 1 – Saturday: Transfer from Tbilisi to Kazbegi Region
Transfer from Tbilisi to Kazbegi region. Since the road is a 3.5-hour drive, on the way we will have several stops to stretch our legs and enjoy the day. Sightseeing stops will include:

Then we will continue to Stepantsminda and check in at the hotel.

Day 2 – Sunday: Gveleti Waterfall Hike
Gveleti Waterfall Hike
– 3 km / 2 hrs / easy level
– Min. elevation: 1432 m.a.s.l. / Max. elevation: 1721 m.a.s.l.
After breakfast, we will go to Dariali Gorge and have a short hike to Gveleti Waterfall. After that, we will visit Dariali Monastery and have a sit in a local café. We will then return to the hotel in Stepantsminda.

Day 3 – Monday: Truso Valley Hike

– 12 km / 4 hrs / moderate level
– Min. elevation: 2122 m.a.s.l. / Max. elevation: 2238 m.a.s.l.
After breakfast, you will leave Stepantsminda and head to Truso, a spectacular mountain valley famous for its alpine landscape and colorful travertines. Your hike will start near Abano Mineral Lake. You will pass a couple of isolated villages and monasteries. You will also visit the ruins of the Zakagori Fortress, offering a lovely panoramic view of the valley. In the afternoon, we will go back to Stepantsminda.

Day 4 – Tuesday: Juta Hike to Mount Chaukhi Area

– 14 km / 5–6 hrs / moderate level
– Min. elevation: 2168 m.a.s.l. / Max. elevation: 2560 m.a.s.l.
Today, we will venture into the Valley of Juta to try one of the most spectacular hikes in the area. The round-way hike starts at the picturesque Juta Village and takes visitors to the foot of Mount Chaukhi. The most difficult is the initial stage of the trail, which involves a relatively steep, 1-kilometer-long ascent. Later, the path becomes more even, and the hikers can enjoy a beautiful walk through a majestic mountain valley. The valley is famous for its alpine meadows, roaring rivers, and crystal-clear waterfalls. On our hike, we will aim to reach an alpine lake. In the afternoon, we will return to Stepantsminda.

Day 5 – Wednesday: Free Day
Enjoy a day at leisure in Stepantsminda. You may choose to relax, enjoy the natural surroundings, or take optional local excursions.

Day 6 – Thursday: Altihut Hike via Gergeti Trinity Church
In the morning, after breakfast, we will head to hike towards Altihut. We will take a 4WD drive and go to Gergeti Trinity Church, and after sightseeing, we will start our ascent.

Maximum elevation: 3014 m (Altihut)
At Altihut, we can eat and drink tea or coffee. We will return the same way. The hike will take approximately 6–7 hours.

Day 7 – Friday: Free Day or St. Elias Monastery Stroll
You may choose to enjoy a relaxed day in Stepantsminda, or go for a light stroll to visit St. Elias Monastery, which offers a peaceful setting and beautiful views over the region.

Day 8 – Saturday: Return to Tbilisi via Gudamakari Valley
After breakfast, we will head back to Tbilisi. On the way, we will explore a beautiful valley called Gudamakari. In this valley, we will have a local family lunch with fresh homemade food.
Hiking distance: 10 km
Min. elevation: 1246 m.a.s.l.
Max. elevation: 1580 m.a.s.l.
Approximate hiking time: 3–4 hrs
Trail description: Most of the trail is flat and follows either a well-visible ground road. One or two sections will be uphill (for the views) but very manageable.
Arrival in Tbilisi.
