Itinerary:
Day 1
Tbilisi – Borjomi Central Park – Akhaltsikhe – Rabati Castle
We will leave Tbilisi early in the morning and head towards Akhaltsikhe – a cozy, small city in Georgia’s southwestern region of Samtskhe–Javakheti. On the way, we will stop in Borjomi to visit Borjomi Central Park. Upon arrival at Akhaltsikhe, we will explore Rabati Fortress – a reconstructed medieval castle with a Disney-like atmosphere. Overnight in the guesthouse.
Day 2
Vardzia – Sapara Monastery – Tbilisi
In the morning, we will head to Vardzia Cave Monastery, built during the reign of Giorgi III and Tamar the Great. Later, we will drive to Sapara Monastery. Sapara has existed since the 9th century and had many important figures in Georgian ecclesiastical history among its monks. The complex includes St. Saba Church, famous for high-quality14th-century frescoes. In the afternoon, we will head back to Tbilisi, stopping, on the way, at a local restaurant for an early dinner. Return to Tbilisi. The end of the tour.
