Itinerary:
Day 1
Tbilisi – Tusheti
We depart Tbilisi early in the morning and head to Kakheti. Our drive will take us over Gombori Pass to the foothills of the Great Caucasus. Once we reach the village of Lechuri, we will turn off the asphalt and drive off-road to Abano Pass – the highest drivable mountain pass in the Caucasus (2,826 m.a.s.l.).
Prepare for an EXTREMELY scenic yet DIFFICULT ride. It will take us a minimum of 3 hours to climb to the top of the pass and another 2 or 3 hours to reach our guesthouse. Upon arrival in Tusheti, we will have time to explore some of the main highlights of the region, including Omalo, Keselo, and Dartlo villages. Overnight in a simple guesthouse in Girevi.
Day 2
Giveri village – Kvakhidi Meadows
Our trek will start after breakfast. Today we will hike from Girevi village to the beautiful Kvakhidi Meadows. We will rent horses to carry our luggage. It will take around 5-6 hours to reach the camping site. We will overnight in tents.
