Itinerary:

Day 1

Tbilisi – Yeghegnadzor
We will start our day driving to Sadakhlo to cross the Georgia-Armenia border. Once we are on the Armenian side of the border, we will head towards Lake Sevan. We will take short stops on the way, but our goal will be to reach Lake Sevan around lunchtime and try the local specialty – crayfish kebab. At Lake Sevan, we will briefly visit Sevanavank Monastery before heading to Noratus Cementary – home to the largest surviving collection of khachkars. Overnight in Yeghegnadzor.

Day 2

Yeghegnadzor – Tatev Monastery – Goris
Today, we will explore the famous Tatev Monastery, located on the edge of a deep gorge of the Vorotan River. Tatev is known as the bishopric seat of Syunik and played a significant role in Syunik’s history as a center of economic, political, spiritual, and cultural activity. To get to Tatev, we will use the Wings of Tatev  a 5.7 km (3.5 mi) cableway from Halidzor. It is the World’s longest reversible aerial tramway built in only one section. We will continue to Goris to spend the night.

Day 3

Goris – Yeghegnadzor – Areni
We will start the day from exploring Goris and the area. Later, we will head to visit the famous Areni Cave – a multicomponent cave site with artifacts dating from the Chalcolithic to the Bronze Age. Inside the cave, archaeologists discovered, what is likely the world’s oldest winery, the remnants of a 5,000-year-old skirt made of straw, and the world’s oldest leather shoe.  We will spend the night at the outskirts of Yerevan.

Day 4

Yerevan – Dilijan – Tbilisi
After breakfast, we start heading back to the border. Time permitting, we may spend a couple of hours shopping/ sightseeing Yerevan.
