Trail description: The hike follows a pilgrimage road. The trail’s most challenging aspect is a significant elevation gain. Trail is mostly open under the sun. we use walking poles to help ascending or descending . It’s a great hike for intermediate hikers.
Itinerary:
We will leave Tbilisi in the morning and head north on the Georgian Military Road. Our journey will take us to Aragvi River Valley, where we will stop in the small village called Mleta. From Mleta, we will hike uphill to Lomisa church – a medieval Christian shrine dedicated to Saint George. Lomisa is the principal shrine for the highland province of Mtiuleti and neighboring communities. On our hike, we will follow the pilgrims’ route. Views from the trail are stunning. Time permitting, after the hike, we will visit a local restaurant for early dinner. Return to Tbilisi. The end of the tour.
