Trail description: It’s a loop hike with a couple of uphill sections. An ascent of 860 meters stretches over the first 7 km with a following steep decline. We recommend bringing walking poles to ease the descent. This hiking trail might be difficult for inexperienced hikers.

 

Itinerary:

In the morning, we will head to Borjomi National Park. Our hike will start in the Likani River Gorge. The trail is well known for its spectacular views and the possibility of wildlife encounters. It’s a moderate-level hike, but it may be challenging for inexperienced hikers.

Initially, we will hike in the forest. Once we reach the trail’s highest section, we will see the gorge stretching below us. Finally, we will descend back to Likani. During the hike, we will stop for a picnic lunch in a spectacular viewpoint from which you can admire the mountains of the Borjomi National Park. After the hike, time and energy permitting, we may also jump into the famous Borjomi Sulphur baths (entry fee -15 gel- at your own expense). Return to Tbilisi in the evening. The end of the trip.

How to prepare for the tour

MEETING TIME AND PLACE

We will meet at 09:00 at  Samaia Garden. Please be on time. In case of any delays, please inform your guide. Otherwise, the group will depart without you.

 

WEATHER

Georgian weather changes often and fast. For this reason, it's essential to follow the weather forecast closely. Here is the weather forecast. Please check it the night before the tour to be well prepared.

 

WHAT TO WEAR

Please wear clothes appropriate to the weather. Make sure to wear proper hiking boots and bring walking poles. Bring a swimming suit and a towel if you intend to take a sulphur bath in Borjomi.

 

FOOD & DRINKS

Always make sure you have enough drinking water. 1.5-2 liters should be enough for the day. Make sure to bring snacks - sandwiches, dried fruit, and sweets. They will help you maintain your energy level until evening.

 

OTHER ESSENTIAL ITEMS

If you are prone to motion sickness, please have medicine with you. Bring a day pack to carry small items with you. Make sure to have sunglasses and suncream with you.
