Itinerary:

Day 1/ 5 Jan (Sun) – Arrival

Arrive in the afternoon. Meet your guide at the ariport. Transfer to hotel. In the evening search for the most beautiful Christmas lights. 

Day 2/ 6 Jan (Mon) – Day trip to Mtskhet and Jvari Monastery

Meet your guide after breakfast and drive to Jvari Monastery. Located on the outskirts of Tbilisi, Jvari is a part of Georgia’s most famous UNESCO site. Explore the temple, before driving to the first capital of Georgia – Mtskheta.

In Mtksheta, explore the medieval Svetitstkhoveli Cathedral and Samtavro Monastery. Finish your tour with a delicious lunch and wine tasting in a charming, family-owned winery nearby. Return to Tbilisi. 

Day 3/ 7 Jan (Tue) – Guided tour around Tbilisi and Alilo procession

Start your day by exploring Tbilisi’s Old Town and its most iconic sites. In the early afternoon, join the Alilo Parade, a procession that celebrates Georgian Orthodox Christmas. Alilo is a religious ritual in which thousands of people march dressed in special robes and carrying the Georgian flag, crucifixes, and icons. Participants sing and chant as they walk. Along the way, they also collect food, clothing, and donations from onlookers to later distribute to people in need. Return to the hotel in the evening.

Day 4/ 8 Jan (Wed) – Day trip to Sighnaghi and Bodbe

In the morning, drive to Sighnaghi, a charming town with a Tuscan vibe and a fantastic view of the Greater Caucasus Mountains. On the way, stop in Badiauri village to learn how to bake traditional Georgian bread. It will also be an excellent opportunity to try Georgian cheese and sunflower oil.

Continue to Bodbe, a medieval monastery famous as the burial site of St. Nino. In the afternoon, take a stroll along the charming streets of Sighnaghi. You may also visit Sighnaghi Museum (if it’s open). The museum houses a dozen of works by Niko Pirosmani – Georgia’s most famous painter. 

Return to Tbilisi in the evening. Overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 5/ 9 Jan (Thu) – Departure

Spend the morning doing the last sightseeing or souvenir shopping. Afternoon transfer to the airport for the flight back home.
