Let’s head to Dmanisi – Bolnisi region to explore some of the most crucial Georgian historical and archeological sites. We will visit the oldest extant church in Georgia to learn more about the formation of the Georgian language and the advent of Christianity in the Caucasus, explore the Dmanisi hominins discovery site, and, as a bonus, look into the history of German colonies in Georgia.

Itinerary:
We will start our trip with a visit to Dmanisi – an open-air museum dedicated to the earliest hominid dispersal beyond Africa (1,75 million years ago). Next, we will head to Bolnisi Sioni – a cathedral built in 478–493. It is the oldest extant church in Georgia, famous for its early medieval inscriptions in the Georgian alphabet. We will also visit the fantastic Bolnisi Museum and stroll the cobbled streets built in the 19th century by Germans from Swabia. Once we finish sightseeing, we will head to a local restaurant for late lunch/ dinner. Return to Tbilisi. The end of the tour.
