Our trail path leads through a beautiful forest. This section ends up in the heart of Birtvisi Canyon – a lovely, secluded gorge surrounded by steep mountain walls and massive rocks. Once we reach the canyon, we will explore the area in depth and have a picnic. Bring your favorite snacks! Next, we will try to explore the old tower walls if the weather allows us. Expect breathtaking views and plenty of open space. We will come back the same way. Time permitting, you may stop for dinner in a local restaurant in Asureti. Return to Tbilisi. End of the tour.

Itinerary:

In the morning, we will head northeast to Pankisi Valley. Pankisi is home to a Chechen minority called Kists. Upon arrival, we will meet our local host, who will guide us through the meanders of Chechen Kist culture. The day will be busy – we will explore two Kist villages and visit a mosque and a felt workshop ( We recommend to have cash 20-30 gel and buy some amazing felt items made by grandma, this way we support her small business) . We will also visit several historical attractions in the area, such as the Pankisi Amphitheater. Old Church, Museum, Viewpoint panorama.

In the afternoon, we will enjoy lunch featuring delicious traditional Kist food. Time permitting, we may visit a local brewery making non-alcoholic beer made of mountain berries. Beer bottle usually costs 3 Gel, please have cash to buy bottle or two.  Return to Tbilisi in the evening. The end of the tour.

Early in the morning, we will leave Tbilisi and drive to Lagodekhi Protected Area – the oldest nature reserve in Georgia. Our objective for today will be to reach the 40-m-high Ninoshkevi Waterfall. Our hiking trail will follow an uphill forest trail. Upon reaching the waterfall, we will have time to relax and have a picnic lunch. Please make sure you have your own lunch ready, we will not have time for restaurant stop. Return same way back. Sometimes wooden bridge is damaged and we have to cross the river stream which is usually not difficult. Please have your own lunch, we are not going to stop for restaurant. Return to Tbilisi.

Trail description: It’s a loop hike with a couple of uphill sections. An ascent of 860 meters stretches over the first 7 km with a following steep decline. We recommend bringing walking poles to ease the descent. This hiking trail might be difficult for inexperienced hikers.

 


Itinerary:

In the morning, we will head to Borjomi National Park. Our hike will start in the Likani River Gorge. The trail is well known for its spectacular views and the possibility of wildlife encounters. It’s a moderate-level hike, but it may be challenging for inexperienced hikers.

Initially, we will hike in the forest. Once we reach the trail’s highest section, we will see the gorge stretching below us. Finally, we will descend back to Likani. During the hike, we will stop for a picnic lunch in a spectacular viewpoint from which you can admire the mountains of the Borjomi National Park. After the hike, if we finish very early time and energy permitting, we may also jump into the famous Borjomi Sulphur baths (entry fee -15 gel- at your own expense) and it takes another 1-2 hour to hike. Return to Tbilisi in the evening. The end of the trip.

In the morning, we will drive to Kojori village to visit Azeula, a medieval castle said to be the place where Queen Tamar took her last breath. Azeula offers spectacular views of Tbilisi and its neighborhood. In good weather, you can see as far as the Tbilisi See. Next, we will hike down the cliff to Asureti village established in the 19th century by German colonists. On the way to Asureti, we will stop at the ruins of the Kabeni Monastery. Once we reach Asureti, we will explore the village – visit an old Lutheran graveyard, take a look at the renovated German architecture, and (time permitting) drop at a local German-theme restaurant for a late lunch. Return to Tbilisi. The end of the tour.

We will take photos and have time for quick lunch. please bring your own lunch. Tbilisi – Kutaisi – Tskaltubo
We will leave Tbilisi in the morning and head to Kutaisi. On the way, we will stop to admire the in Gori for a coffee break. Once we reach Tskaltubo, we will start the first part of our urban exploration. We will begin with Tsklatubo Railway Station and continue with Bathhouse N8, Sanatorium Medea, and perhaps a couple of other sites if the daylight allows it. We will have restaurant stop and then Overnight in Kutaisi.

Tskaltubo – Tbilisi
After breakfast, we have free time in Kutaisi which allows you to visit the city and take a cable car. we will then drive to Bagrati cathedral. In the afternoon, we will head back to Tbilisi, stopping on the way to stretch our legs and eat lunch. Evening return to Tbilisi. The end of the tour!

Join us on a short beautiful forest hike through Birtvisi Canyon, where scenic trails lead to dramatic rock formations, ancient fortress ruins, and panoramic views over the Kvemo Kartli region.

Trail parameters:
Hiking distance: 6 km total (A to A trail)
Max. elevation: 729 m.a.s.l.
Min. elevation: 1125 m.a.s.l.
Elevation gain: 158 m
Approximate hiking time: 4-5 hrs. for beginners
Trail description: requires walking on stones and boulders. The hike includes one steep uphill – downhill. Hiking shoes are a must. Walking poles are recommended.

 


Itinerary:
Our trail path leads through a beautiful forest. This section ends up in the heart of Birtvisi Canyon – a lovely, secluded gorge surrounded by steep mountain walls and massive rocks. Once we reach the canyon, we will explore the area in depth and have a picnic. Bring your favorite snacks! Next, we will try to explore the old tower walls if the weather allows us. Expect breathtaking views and plenty of open space. We will come back the same way.  Return to Tbilisi. End of the tour.

You will need waterproof hiking shoes and poles. Sunglasses, sunscreen, and a cap will help you in the sun.
Bring extra shoes you can always leave them in the car. Having a raincoat is always a good idea.
