Itinerary:

We will leave Tbilisi in the morning and head to the Imereti region. Our first stop will be Modinakhe – a reconstructed medieval fortress towering over Sachkhere.

Next, we will drive to the mining town of Chiatura, where we will stop at the medieval Mghvimevi Monastery and take a cable car ride to the ruins of the former Pioneer Palace. We will also take a look at the old cable car station.

Finally, we will visit the fascinating impressive 40-meter-high Katskhi Pillar, with a tiny hermitage built on top of it. While climbing to the top of the pillar is forbidden for secular people, the view of the church is one of the most iconic in Georgia. Return to Tbilisi in the evening. The end of the tour.

Itinerary:

Day 1
Tbilisi – Zugdidi – Enguri Dam – Mestia – Local Movie show

Early in the morning, we will leave Tbilisi and head to Svaneti. We will cross Rikoti Pass and head to Zugdidi, where we will have a lunch break. Next, the group will continue to Mestia, stopping on the way to admire the winter panorama from the magnificent Enguri Dam. Once we reach the town, we will check into our guesthouse and head for an evening stroll and dinner in a cozy restaurant. We also visit Dede Cafe and Cinema for an evening screening of the famous Svaneti-focused “Dede” movie. It’s a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience shows locals life and traditions. Overnight in Mestia.

 

Day 2
Mestia – Tetnuldi ski resort – Sauna and hot tub

After breakfast we will drive to Tetnuldi (1 hr drive) for skiing. we will spend whole day skiing, admiring views of caucasus peaks and in the evening we will come back to mestia. after dinner we will head to Sauna and open air hot tubs which is in the middle of the forest. Overnight in Mestia.

 

Day 3
Mestia – Museums – Hatsvali and Zuruldi skiing

After breakfast, you can choose what you prefer to do today. Visiting museums, taking cable car to Zuruldi and sit at highest elevation bar, skiing whole day.
Don’t worry if you don’t have any equipment. We will help you with a rental service and arranging a ski pass.
If you don’t ski, you can still head to Hatsvali to get a cocktail or two in a mountain-peak bar with some of the best views in Svaneti. Or you can stay in Mestia to enjoy the local museums and winter landscapes. we will visit cozy restaurant for dinner. Overnight in Mestia.

 

Day 4
Mestia – Tbilisi

In the morning we will start driving back to Tbilisi, stopping on the way to streach legs and do a bit more of sightseeing. Return to Tbilisi in the evening.

On the way to Gudauri, there are locals selling honey, and they offer honey tasting too. There’s no place where you can see the honey-making process.
About Sabaduri: there’s no honey on the way—just forest and only one café.

In the morning, we will head northeast to Pankisi Valley. Pankisi is home to a Chechen minority called Kists. Upon arrival, we will meet our local host, who will guide us through the meanders of Chechen Kist culture. The day will be busy – we will explore two Kist villages and visit a mosque and a felt workshop. We will also visit several historical attractions in the area, such as the Pankisi Amphitheater. If the weather is good, we will also climb to the ruins of a watch tour built once by Chechen warriors.

We will depart Tbilisi in the morning and head north to Khevsureti. Around noon our vehicle will reach Datvisjvari Pass – a high mountain pass at an elevation of 2689 m.a.s.l. The views from the top are among the most scenic in Georgia. From Datvisjvari Pass, we will descend towards Shatili, a historic highland village nested in the deep Arghuni Gorge. The settlement is a unique complex of fortified dwellings that served as a residential area and a fortress guarding the northeastern outskirts of the country. Later, we will continue to Anatori Burial Vaults – a fascinating memorial of Khevsuretian culture and beliefs. Overnight in a guesthouse.

Day 2
Mutso – Datvisjvari Pass – Tbilisi

We will start our day by exploring the historic village of Ardoti. Next, we will head to Mutso, another spectacular fortified settlement offering incredible history and views. We will hike up the hill for about 20–30 min (elevation gain of 115m) to get to the fortress. The hike is steep and challenging if you are out of shape, but the views are worth it. Once we finish sightseeing Mutso, we will start a picturesque drive back to Tbilisi. On the way, if we have enough time and energy, we can book a rafting tour on the Aragvi river (optional). Return to Tbilisi in the evening. The end of Khevsureti overnight tour.

Wear walking/sports shoes for the hikes. Just in case, you may also pack a raincoat.

THE ROAD
The road to Khevsureti is difficult. It’s long, sometimes many hours in the car. It may even get scary as it runs along a deep canyon. If you are prone to motion sickness, bring the medicine and take it before the trip. We will be taking plenty of stops to take photos and to rest. If you need to stop, let your guide know. The drivers will stop as soon as they find a proper place for that.

Join us on our Svaneti Winter Tour.  We will see traditional Lamproba festival, We will ski, ride cable cars, admire stunning snow-capped mountains, visit local museums, watch local movies and eat plenty of delicious food! The tour is perfect for busy people who want to see as much as they can in a short time.

Itinerary:

Day 1
Tbilisi – Zugdidi – Enguri Dam – Mestia – Local Movie show

Early in the morning, we will leave Tbilisi and head to Svaneti. We will cross Rikoti Pass and head to Zugdidi, where we will have a lunch break. Next, the group will continue to Mestia, stopping on the way to admire the winter panorama from the magnificent Enguri Dam. Once we reach the town, we will check into our guesthouse and head for an evening stroll and dinner in a cozy restaurant. We also visit Dede Cafe and Cinema for an evening screening of the famous Svaneti-focused “Dede” movie. It’s a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience shows locals life and traditions. Overnight in Mestia.

 

Day 2
Mestia – Tetnuldi ski resort – Sauna and hot tub

After breakfast we will drive to Tetnuldi (1 hr drive) for skiing. we will spend whole day skiing, admiring views of caucasus peaks and in the evening we will come back to mestia. after dinner we will head to Sauna and open air hot tubs which is in the middle of the forest. Overnight in Mestia.

 

Day 3
Mestia – Museums – Cable cars – Skiing – Lamproba festival

After breakfast, you can choose what you prefer to do today. Visiting museums, taking cable car to Zuruldi and sit at highest elevation bar, skiing whole day.
Don’t worry if you don’t have any equipment. We will help you with a rental service and arranging a ski pass.
If you don’t ski, you can still head to Hatsvali to get a cocktail or two in a mountain-peak bar with some of the best views in Svaneti. Or you can stay in Mestia to enjoy the local museums and winter landscapes. we will visit cozy restaurant for dinner and later around 7 pm we will visit cemetery to see traditional festival Lamproba. Overnight in Mestia.

 

Day 4
Mestia – Tbilisi

In the morning we will start driving back to Tbilisi, stopping on the way to streach legs and do a bit more of sightseeing. Return to Tbilisi in the evening.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE TOUR

MEETING TIME AND PLACE
We meet 08:00 at Samaia Garden. Please be on time. In case of any delays, please inform your guide. Otherwise, the group will depart without you.

WEATHER

Georgian weather changes often and fast. For this reason, it is essential to follow the weather forecast closely. The weather forecast is here. Please check it the night before the tour to be well prepared. Keep in mind that the weather may change during the tour.

WHAT TO WEAR
Please wear clothes appropriate for a ski tour. It will be very cold with lots of snow. You must have proper skiing outfit including trousers, a jacket, gloves, and shoes. Skiing equipment you will be able to rent in Mestia. If you want to visit Sauna you can bring your swimwear with you.

FOOD & DRINKS
There will be lots of opportunities to get something to eat on this tour. Pack only light snacks and a bottle of water. If you run out of something, we will stop at the supermarket.

Itinerary:

Day 1
Tbilisi – Tskhrajvari Mountain – Shaori Reservoir – Nikortsminda Cathedral – Sakinule Cave
Early in the morning, we will leave Tbilisi and head to Racha via Zestafoni. If the weather is good, we will stop at Tskhrajvari Mountain to admire the views. From Tskhrajvari, we will head to Shaori Reservoir, one of the most beautiful lakes in Georgia, located at an altitude of 1100 meters above sea level. Next, we will continue to the 11th-century Nikortsminda Cathedral, famous for its spectacular frescoes. Time permitting, we will visit the Sakinule Cave. Later, we will continue to our guesthouse to relax and enjoy a lovely evening.

Day 2
Oni – Utsera village – Shovi mountain resort – Sachkhere town – Modinakhe fortress – Tbilisi
After breakfast, we will head to Utsera and Shovi – two beautiful mountain resorts surrounded by forests and snowcapped mountains. We will stop to admire the landscape and peek into an abandoned house that, according to urban legends, was once Joseph Stalin’s summer residence. In the afternoon, we will drive back to Tbilisi via the town of Sachkhere, stopping on the way to visit Modinakhe Fortress. Return to Tbilisi. The end of the tour.
