Stops: Ananuri, Jinvali Reservoir, Gudauri Ski Resort, Gudauri Panorama, Gergeti Church in Kazbegi (same as Stepantsminda).
If the Gergeti road is closed, our guide will let you know. We never know when it closes; it depends on snow and ice conditions. One day it may be open, the next day closed. We call locals in the morning to ask about the situation.

On the way to Gudauri, there are locals selling honey, and they offer honey tasting too. There’s no place where you can see the honey-making process.
About Sabaduri: there’s no honey on the way—just forest and only one café.

activities are usually available. We never know when the ski resort opens; this information is announced about a week in advance. Last year it opened on December 25, and this year we don’t know yet. This means cable cars might be closed.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE TOUR

MEETING TIME AND PLACE
We meet at your hotel location. Sabaduri time is usually 10am or 11 am, Gudauri kazbegi is either 8am or 9 am. please text us later what time is better for you and depending on your hotel breakfast times.

This is your private tour to visit Sabaduri frozen forest! Let’s check if there is any snow on Sabaduri Pass! We will visit Sabaduri forest for spectacular winter views, feed bears in a local sanctuary with some snacks, and make sure local homeless dogs don’t spend the day with empty stomachs.

Itinerary:

We will depart Tbilisi and head to Sabaduri Forest. On the way, we will stop to feed homeless dogs; many people abandon them in the area. We will also visit a zoological center, which provides shelter for bears once captured and abused by humans. Next, we will continue to Sabaduri Forest to enjoy the spectacular winter views. We will take photos, make picnic in the forest. On the way back we will stop at a cozy local cafe for late lunch.

It will be COLD!
Please wear clothes appropriate to the weather – hats, scarves, gloves, warm underwear, winter jackets, and shoes.

 

FOOD & DRINKS
Always make sure you have enough drinking water. 1.5–2 liters should be enough for the day. Bring some snacks too, in case you get hungry before we stop at the restaurant.

BEARS & DOGS
The bear center usually has some animal food you can buy for a small amount of cash. Last time, it was chicken meat. But you can also bring some bear-friendly snacks with you. They appreciate apples, carrots, pieces of pumpkin, or even fish.
For dog lovers – the center takes care of a big group of dogs. But more importantly, there are strays staying at the side of the road we will follow. Get some dog food, and we will stop to feed them too.

On the way back we will stop at a cozy local cafe but there is no guarantee they are open or have food. we usually use them for coffee break.  sightseeing finishes at 2 pm. we plan to come back at 5 pm.
