Itinerary:

Today, we will head along curvy mountain roads to Paravani – the largest lake in Georgia. Paravani Lake lies at 2072 m.a.s.l. and freezes completely in winter. This day is Natlisgheba (Orthodox Epiphany) at Paravani Lake, held annually on January 19.  followed by the ice-bathing ritual (“Holy Water”). Participants descend a ladder into icy water, immersing up to three times while crossing themselves, symbolizing purification and good health m the ice, try great Armenian food, and more. Weather permitting, we may spot local Armenians fishing from the ice. We will also visit St. Nino Nunnery of Poka, near an important pilgrimage site. The nuns produce goods such as cheese, jams, honey, and chocolate. For lunch, we will stop at a small local restaurant/guesthouse owned by the Margaryan family. The delectable homemade dishes are a real culinary treat. Return to Tbilisi. The end of the trip.

Early in the morning, we will leave Tbilisi and drive to Lagodekhi Protected Area – the oldest nature reserve in Georgia. Our objective for today will be to reach the 40-m-high Ninoshkevi Waterfall. Our hiking trail will follow an uphill forest trail. Upon reaching the waterfall, we will have time to relax and have a picnic lunch. Please make sure you have your own lunch ready, we will not have time for restaurant stop. Return same way back. Sometimes wooden bridge is damaged and we have to cross the river stream which is usually not difficult. Please have your own lunch, we are not going to stop for restaurant. Return to Tbilisi.

Trail description: It’s a loop hike with a couple of uphill sections. An ascent of 860 meters stretches over the first 7 km with a following steep decline. We recommend bringing walking poles to ease the descent. This hiking trail might be difficult for inexperienced hikers.

 


Itinerary:

In the morning, we will head to Borjomi National Park. Our hike will start in the Likani River Gorge. The trail is well known for its spectacular views and the possibility of wildlife encounters. It’s a moderate-level hike, but it may be challenging for inexperienced hikers.

Initially, we will hike in the forest. Once we reach the trail’s highest section, we will see the gorge stretching below us. Finally, we will descend back to Likani. During the hike, we will stop for a picnic lunch in a spectacular viewpoint from which you can admire the mountains of the Borjomi National Park. After the hike, if we finish very early time and energy permitting, we may also jump into the famous Borjomi Sulphur baths (entry fee -15 gel- at your own expense) and it takes another 1-2 hour to hike. Return to Tbilisi in the evening. The end of the trip.

Day 1
Tbilisi – Dedoplistskaro – Takhti – Tepa Mud Volcanoes – Dedoplistskaro

We will leave Tbilisi early in the morning and drive to the Vashlovani National Park. Once we reach the park, we will register at the local rangers’ post and head to explore Takhti – Tepa Mud Volcanoes. To add more fun, we will have a picnic lunch in Vashlovani. Bring your favorite snack! In the evening, we will head to Dedoplitskaro to spend the night at a lovely family-owned guesthouse. Time permitting, we will stop to visit St. Elia Mountain offering lovely view of the area. Dinner and an overnight stay in the the guesthouse.

Day 2
Datviskhevi – Pantishara – Mijniskure

After breakfast we will explore Vashlovani hidden gems – Datviskhevi and Pantishara Gorge, and the stunning cliffs of Mijniskure. Here you’ll find narrow canyons and jagged peaks, barren plateaus, forested mountains, and a snaking river forming the border with Azerbaijan. Return to Dedoplistskaro for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3
Dedoplistkaro – Sighnaghi – Tbilisi

After breakfast, we will head to Sighnaghi, a lovely town with a Tuscan-like feeling. Upon arrival, we will visit the charming Bodbe Monastery, stroll the town’s historical ramparts and enjoy a delicious lunch in a local restaurant. Return to Tbilisi. The end of the trip.

Trail description:
The trek is long, with a large elevation gain. The section is particularly challenging before the Katitsvera Pass, from which you descend towards Udzrlo Lake. Descent is initially steep, then gradually eases. Even in mid-July, parts of this section can be covered with snowfields. The area around Udzrlo Lake is relatively flat and good for camping. From Udzrlo, the trail navigates through alpine meadows and rhododendron fields. In summer, the grass here is very high. Make sure to wear long trousers. The trail crosses a mountain stream, enters a forest here, and continues downhill until the Glola village.

 

Day 1
Tbilisi – Racha new road – Ambrolauri

We will leave Tbilisi in the morning and head to the Racha region. On the way, we will stop to admire views of Shkmeri road. On this day we will stay in Ambrolauri or in Shovi depending on availability of accommodation. Dinner, Overnight.


Day 2
Shovi – Katitsvera pass – Camp

After breakfast we will prepare our equipment and lunch boxes and head to the starting point of our trail. The first several hours we will spend hiking in the forest. Later on, the trail will shift to meadows and a river valley. Finally, we will reach Katitsvera Pass and take a longer break before crossing it. Once we cross the pass, we will see Udziro Lake from afar. The trail here gets a bit easier. Upon reaching Udziro Lake, we will have time to rest and relax before finding the best place to camp. Overnight in tents.

Day 3
Udziro Lake – Glola village – Tbilisi

After breakfast, we will start hiking downhill. The trail will take us downhill through beautiful alpine meadows and rhododendron fields. Once we cross the Chibisru stream, we will follow a forested path leading to Glola village. In Glola, we will meet our vehicles and head back to Tbilisi. Return to Tbilisi. The end of the tour.

On Day 3, we will make breakfast on our own. After finishing the hike, we may stop at a local restaurant for another meal.

Trail description: The trek is long, with a steady elevation gain from Juta towards Chaukhi Pass and a steep descent towards Abudelauri Lakes. Crossing the pass is the most challenging section; the trail over the pass is covered with gravel and small stones moving under hikers’ feet. The last 400 meters before the pass are a steep uphill followed by a relatively flat section on the pass and a long steep downhill towards Abudelauri Lakes. Other sections are much gentler, covered with grass and sand.

 


Itinerary:

Day 1
Tbilisi – Juta – Acclimatization overnight
We will depart Tbilisi in the afternoon and drive to Juta village (approximately three hour drive). We will follow the famous Georgian Military Highway, stopping on the way to admire its highlights – Zhinvali Reservoir, Ananuri castle, and Gudauri panorama. Upon arrival in Juta, we will check into our guesthouse head to explore the hidden corners of the area. Dinner and overnight in Juta.

 

Day 2
Juta – Chaukhi – Chaukhi Pass – Roshka – Tbilisi
After breakfast We will start our hike early in the morning. The initial stage of the trail will be relatively easy, with a gradual but moderate incline. Our first stop will be near Tina Lake at the foot of Mount Chaukhi. After a short break, we will proceed towards Chaukhi Pass – the most challenging part of our trek due to altitude increase. After crossing the pass, we will start descending to Roshka Village. This section of the hike is long and follows a narrow path covered with gravel. we will find Abudelauri blue and green lakes on the way and have short breaks. In Roshka, we will meet our drivers. Return to Tbilisi in the evening. The end of the tour.

Tbilisi – Register Lagodekhi Protected Area (Passports required)
We will depart from Tbilisi early in the morning and drive to Lagodekhi. Our trek starts at the Lagodekhi Protected Area Information Center, where we will register and load our camping equipment on pack horses. Please have your passports. The horses will carry our luggage to a local mountain shelter, where we will stay overnight. The first 3 km will take us on relatively flat terrain and through the forest. Later, we will cross a river and start climbing (8.5 km) toward the shelter – our final destination for today. Most of the ascent will take place in the forest. But around 7th km, we will reach the first clearing offering a magnificent view of the valley below. Overnight in tents or a shelter.
Hiking details: 12 km, ↑1504 m

 

Day 2
Black Rock Lake
Today will hike to Black Rock Lake. On the way, we will find several water sources. The few final kilometers before Black Rock Lake will take us past small glacier-formed lakes and wetlands. The trail is challenging, but Black Rock Lake’s epic scenery will make you forget about all the effort. We will enjoy a lovely, scenic picnic before heading back to the shelter to camp overnight. Overnight in tents or a shelter.

Day 3
Lagodekhi Protected Area – Tbilisi
After an early breakfast, we pack our equipment on pack horses and start hiking down. The trail is challenging as it includes long descent. Return to Tbilisi in the evening. The end of the tour.

Bring one set of warm clothes and one light summer outfit.
Good raincoats, rain covers for backpacks, and another pair of shoes or sandals to wear in the evenings are a must.
You must bring a large, 50–70-liter backpack and fit all your belongings inside.
The large backpack will be carried by horses. Make sure to bring also a small day pack for essentials.


FOOD & DRINKS
Please prepare your own food for 2.5 days.
We will cook all our meals on Days 1 and 2. On Day 3, we will make breakfast on our own. After finishing the hike, we may stop at a local restaurant for another meal.
Always make sure you have enough drinking water. 1.5–2 liters should be enough for the day.
Water sources are limited on the trail to a couple of springs.


EQUIPMENT & OTHER ESSENTIAL ITEMS
If you are prone to motion sickness, please have medicine with you.
As for the equipment, you will need hiking poles, a good tent, a sleeping bag, a sleeping pad, a headlight (torch), a raincoat, forks/knives/spoons/cups, a small pot, sunscreen, and everything that protects you from the sun.
We also recommend carrying a personal first aid kit, hygiene items, and water bottles.

Itinerary:

In the morning, we will head to Kakheti, where we will turn south and drive off-road through desolated badlands. On the way we will stop at Badiauri village to taste fresh Shoti bread with cheese. Eventually, a narrow dirt road will lead us to a massive sandstone cliff where carved in an endlessly morphing rock, lies abandoned Sabereebi – a series of cave churches, cells, and a refectory overlooking a waterless valley. The churches feature porches, each leading into a domed chamber. In some, visitors find remnants of superb frescoes from the ninth to tenth centuries. We will dedicate some time to exploring the site and enjoying a picnic lunch before heading back to our vehicle. Please have your own lunch, we are not going to stop for restaurant. Return to Tbilisi. The end of the tour.

WHAT TO WEAR
Please wear clothes appropriate to the weather. Hiking boots or sports shoes with a good grip are recommended.
Georgian customs require a strict dress code in the monasteries. Women are obliged to cover their heads and legs.
We recommend bringing one or two scarves for that purpose. Otherwise, you will have to wear communal clothes. Men must wear long trousers.

FOOD & DRINKS
Always make sure you have enough drinking water. 1.5 liter should be enough for the day.
Please make sure to bring snacks and your own lunch. after tour we come to Tbilisi directly without stopping at the restaurant.

For dog lovers – the center takes care of a big group of dogs. But more importantly, there are strays staying at the side of the road we will follow. Get some dog food, and we will stop to feed them too.
