  \nItinerary:\nIn the morning\, we will cross the Georgian-Armenian border
  and head to the famous\, UNESCO-protected Haghpat Monastery. Described as 
 a “masterpiece of religious architecture and a major center of learning i
 n the Middle Ages”\, Haghpat monastery\, together with Sanahin Monastery\
 , was placed in 1996 on UNESCO’s World Heritage List.\nOnce we finish sig
 htseeing in Haghpat we will stop for lunch in a local restaurant. Next\, we
  will head to the 10th-century Sanahin Monastery. The name Sanahin translat
 es as ‘this one is older than that one\,’ presumably representing a cla
 im to being an older monastery than the nearby Haghpat. The complex is home
  to numerous khachkars (stones with elaborate engravings representing a cro
 ss) and bishop gravesites.\nOur last stop for today will be Akhtala – a 1
 0th-century Armenian Apostolic monastery and fortress\, which played a majo
 r role in protecting the north-western regions of Armenia and is among the 
 most well-preserved in the country. The main church at the compound is famo
 us for its highly artistic frescoes. Return to Tbilisi in the evening. The
